This Home Compostable heat sealable Kraft Bag has been designed for bulk storage of coffee beans. Total volume will depend on the density of your beans - we recommend testing your coffee in these bags to understand what they can do for your unique coffee.

Great for freshly roasted coffee beans, these Kraft bags offer you a compostable solution without compromising on freshness. Suitable for a wide range of coffee, teas, powders and other dry goods.

In our own testing, this bag has successfully held and shipped 3kg of dark roast coffee through a local courier network when packed inside a carton with void fill and protective packaging.

This bag is approximately 195–200mm wide across the front, with 80mm side gussets and a 540mm overall length, giving it a generous bulk-pack format suitable for approximately 2kg to 3kg of coffee, depending on roast profile, bean density, and fill style. Film has a Kraft paper outer and is 120 micron.

This is a medium-barrier compostable duplex material, offering a practical level of oxygen and moisture protection for suitable dry products. It is not designed as a long-shelf-life, high-barrier replacement for conventional foil or plastic laminate packaging.

Rest your coffee beans for 1-3 days after roasting before sealing the bags.

Important Suitability Note

Compostable materials are not as strong or forgiving as conventional plastic packaging. They can be more sensitive to sharp product edges, overfilling, crushing, rough courier handling, heat, humidity, and storage conditions.

For that reason, we strongly recommend customers complete their own packing, sealing, storage, and transport trials before committing to full production or wholesale use.

For courier shipping, we recommend packing filled bags inside a suitable carton with void fill or protective packaging. This is especially important when packing heavier fills such as 2.5kg to 3kg of coffee.

Barrier & Shelf Life Guidance

This bag is made from a medium-barrier compostable duplex material. It provides some oxygen and moisture protection, but it should not be treated as a long-term high-barrier storage bag.

Best suited for:

  • Coffee intended for regular turnover
  • Dry goods with moderate shelf-life requirements
  • Bulk refill, wholesale, or short-to-medium storage applications
  • Products where compostable packaging is preferred and customers have completed testing

Not recommended for:

  • Long shelf-life applications without testing
  • High-moisture products
  • Frozen or chilled wet products unless tested
  • Heavy sharp-edged products without protective handling
  • Applications requiring the same toughness as conventional plastic laminate

Is this your first time using Compostable Packaging? None of our compostable packaging is suitable for high temperature liquids such as sous vide cooking, or adding boiling water to. Do not bring your compostable packaging into contact with Dry Ice. It is not designed for storing liquids.

Always test your products in compostable packaging by using a Sample Pack prior to full ordering to check it is right for your product's needs.

Compostable Packaging is easy for your customers to dispose of, as any worm farm or home compost bin is an ideal environment for decomposition. (We recommend disposing of your compostable bags in an environment containing heat, water, oxygen, soil and micro-organisms.)
Important note: If you have non-compostable labels or degassing valves on your compostable bags, you will need to peel these off before composting the bag.

Due to the sensitive nature of compostable packaging, its shelf life is naturally shorter than traditional packaging. To help ensure you are always getting the most out of your Compostable Packaging and the sophisticated barrier properties it has to offer, you must pack with any older bags before using your newer stock – First in First Out (FIFO).
